This area is a favourite. It’s got everything, a river, open grassland and woodland all around. It’s easily accessible and offers lots of different composition opportunities. The morning of this shoot was no exception. There were lots of cows, ponies and even family of Canada Geese quietly paddling along the river, I was working my camera hard.
These two caught my eye, so cute! The little foal looks a bit sleepy in the early morning sun while the mother munches away on the short grass. They didn’t stay there for long moving off soon after I took the shot which is always the way with New Forest ponies, they’re generally quite restless. As usual for nature, a fast shutter speed was needed to keep the subject sharp.
