I’ve always been drawn to rivers with their ever changing flowing water. It’s like a bonus natural environment cutting its way through different landscapes that surround them. The diverse nature; plants, fish and other creatures fascinate and inspire.
Like many of the rivers flowing through the forest, Blackensford Brook, is relatively small and has brown tinted water. This is due to the natural effect of the water coming into the river through boggy, peaty soil. The foreground tree on the riverbank in this shot is typical with its exposed roots.
Here in late May the trees, mainly beech, oak and silver birch have grown their leaves for the year so providing a sort of natural green diffuser of light. Overall, it was a dark scene needing a long exposure to get all of the details in darker areas.
